Quickstart building a web application (Web/Mobile)

Lesson 5: Create a Person Zoom View.

In this lesson we will create the first zoom view. The drill down model works with select views and zoom views. A zoom view shows a single record and a select view shows a list of records.

  1. Click Create New… and choose the Mobile Zoom Wizard.

  2. When the Wizard has started it will show some basic information about the Web Mobile Zoom View Wizard.

  3. Enter the name of the view, this name will be oZoomPerson. Leave the filename as is. Change the description to Person. The description will also be the caption of the view.

  4. In this project we will creat a Simple form. Select that option in the wizard.
  5. Select Person as the main data dictionary for the view.
  6. Add the following fields of the Person table to the view. Add:
    - LastName
    - FirstName
    - Tab page
    - Address
    - Zip
    - City
    - Phone
    - Tabe page
    - Comments

  7. The tab page will separate the fields Add the tab page by clicking the Tab button, and move it with the Move Down and Move up buttons.
  8. After clicking next, the labels can be changed. Change them to:
    - LastName: Last name
    - FirstName: First name
    - Tab Page Label: Contact
    - Tab Page Label: Comments

  9. If you want to see what the Wizard is going to generate, you can click the "Adjust and Display" button.
  10. After clicking next, the Wizard will show a screen where you can assign Parent Prompt Lookups.At the moment we do not have any parent tables, so we are skipping this step.
  11. Click Finish in the Wizard.
  12. The wizard created the zoom view. Let’s take a look at what’s generated. Open the Code Explorer.

  13. The View object is called "oZoomPerson". In this View Object is a panel called oWebMainPanel. In this Panel are the LastName and the FirstName. The oWebTabContainer contains Page1 and Page2.

  14. If you open the Designer and select a specific tab, it will show that tab in the Designer. In this case it's oPage2.

  15. You can edit the design in the Designer. Move and resize the items as shown in the example.

  16. Change the size of the comments field. Select the field and go to the Properties panel. Set pbFillHeight to True, now it stretches the full height of the view.
  17. This finishes the Person Zoom View.
