Lesson 7: Create a Media Zoom View

In the previous lesson we added the ability to add and maintain persons. Now we are going to create the Zoom View for our Media items.

  1. Click Create New… and select the Mobile Zoom Wizard.

  2. The first two pages of the wizard show some information. Click next.
  3. Enter the object name: oZoomMedia
  4. Enter the file name: ZoomMedia
  5. Change the description to: Media item

  6. On the next page choose the Simple Form Web Zoom View.
  7. On the next page select Media as the main table.

  8. On the next page we can select Fields from Person as well as Media. This is because they are related.
  9. Select the following Fields from Media:
    - Title
    - Author
    - Type
  10. Add a Group. Add in this group the following Fields from Person:
    - LastName

  11. On the next page change the labels:
    - LastName: Last name
    - Group Label: Person

  12. On the next page the wizard asks to setup Parent Lookup Prompts. Because Last Name is a field from Person a Prompt can be selected to select a different person. Click on the table under Parent Select File and click the square. Choose SelectPerson.

  13. Click next and finish the wizard.
  14. The view is generated, press F7 to look at it in the Designer.

  15. Rearrange the fields by resizing and moving them.

  16. There are still some Fields missing. The easiest way to add Fields, after finishing the wizard, is by using the DDO Explorer (Data Dictionary Object). Go to View and select DDO Explorer. <

  17. The DDO Exporer is a panel in the Studio that shows the structure. Now it shows cPersonDataDictionary and cMediaDataDictionary

  18. You can expand a table columns by clicking on the + sign.

  19. Select Price and drag it to the designer.

  20. Drag the FirstName from the Person Table to the Designer. Rearrange and resize the fields as shown in the example.

  21. To change the label, select the field, in this case FirstName, and go to Properties. Change psLabel to First name.

  22. Another way to add fields is using the Class Palette. Go to View, Class Palette to open it.

  23. The Class Palette appears on the left side of the screen.

  24. Controls can be dragged onto the View from the Class Palette. Drag the cWebDateForm onto the View.

  25. Drag it between Type and Price and resize it.

  26. Change the Label in the Properties panel to Date purchased.
  27. Change the position of the label by going to peLabelPosition. Change it from LpLeft to lpTop.

  28. Change the binding of this field. Click on the Binding Tab, click on the three dots in the Data Source field and select oMedia_dd, PurchaseDate.

  29. In the Designer place Price next to Date purchased.

  30. This finishes this lesson.
